Training Opportunities
As part of the Limestone Landscapes Project we are offering training and learning opportunities for local people, landowners, teachers and professionals.
An Introduction to the Principles, Techniques and Applications of Dendrochronology in Historic Buildings, Archaeological Sites and Cultural Landscapes
Join professional dendrochronologist and environmental archaeologist Dr Coralie Mills in this opportunity to find out more about dendrochronology, otherwise known as tree-ring dating.
Dendrochronology allows buildings to be closely dated and provides insights into historic timber trade and woodland history. Analysis may even identify where timber came from - useful in areas where importation was common.
The lecture will introduce the principles and techniques involved in using dendrochronology to date and investigate historic buildings, archaeological sites and cultural landscapes, using mainly Scottish examples.
Wednesday 7 December, 5.00pm to 7.00pm, Northumbria University
